Looking for a source for engine paint for a 1954 Mercury 256, Bill Hirsh is all I can find. Is there any thing else available ?

Summit sells an Oldsmobile Gold engine paint, I think it's POR-15, not sure how close it is to the gold Merc Y-blocks of back then.

Try Bill Hirsch in NJ. If its the ivory, I believe a Packard ivory is very close to the original color.

I just found in one of my paint books the original engine color codes for engines back to 41, these are the PPG Ditzler code numbers, I don't know if they can be translated into a paint these days as most of the old paint numbers I give the mixers these days they appear to have no clue as to their meaning, their new system of making paint doesn't go back that far.

If need be I can get you the number tomorrow when I am at my shop. Personally, I would just go with the Bill Hirsh paint if you can get it. and yes it would be the Ivory for 54 merc.

If you have the original Ditzler paint code, PPG maintains a paint archive and could match it to a modern formula.

Thanks for all your efforts, I am pretty sure the 54 Merc engine was a green color.  I will go thru Bill Hirsh, Thanks again TOM
