My 54 Ranch Wagon did not have a generator or brackets on it when I bought it. It has a 272 in it, but not sure what year. Is there a difference in generator brackets from year to year on the y blocks? I found brackets on ebay for a 55 which I believe will work on my 272. What about the generators? I don't want to buy parts and find out they don't work, or the alignment is not correct for the v-belt. Thanks. I don't know much about y blocks.

The generator brackets are the same for Y-Blocks in cars, trucks and wagons (not sure about T-Birds). If your 54 is converted to 12 volt, make sure the generator you get is 12V also.

Thanks Rono. It has been converted to 12 volt. Someone converted it to an alternator, but did a very poor job with it. I want to take it back to a generator set up.
