Is there a easy way to change the motor mounts? The ones I have are old, dried, and cracked and I get a lot of shake at low RPM when the engine warms up. Perhaps some tricks with a strategicly place jack to hold up the motor while I can swap in the new ones. I know I could take the carb off and hold it up with a lifter plate and an engine hoist, but I have neither. - John

hi john the only way to do it is the way brodie said being in oz im not sure on your 57's if it has a front engine steady rest you can jack it on that as well ive done it plenty of times on lots of differnt engines with no problems. moz

Ok thank you! - wasn't sure if the oil pan would hold the weight. I ordered the mounts so I should be able to have that changed out this weekend! - john

hi john just a post note to my last when your jacking up the engine do it slowly as to minnimise jerking movements because you can buckle the oil pan a little if you do it fast causing it to jerk. moz.

Hey,
Thanks for the info guys, just searching through the posts cause I had this problem too - a cracked rubber mount, and hoped I didn't need to lift the engine too far out to get to the mounts! Thanks for answering my question months before I even knew I was going to ask it-
