First,I would get out the magnet and make sure that it is not aluminum. If it is cast then its probably a Cadillac,or Pontiac.

I think Ford did build some dual quad cast intakes for later engines like 260/289 era and maybe for the F.E. series but nothing for the "Y" Block.

Do as Oldmics mentions and just check the intake with a magnet.  You’ll likely find it’s just a painted aluminum intake.  If it is iron, then double check its application as many of the early GM V8 dual quad intakes at first glance can be confused for those fitting a Ford Y-Block.  Haven’t seen or heard of  a 2X4 intake yet for a Ford Y, SBF, FE, or 385 series yet that wasn’t aluminum regardless if it was a factory unit or made by the aftermarket.

I hate to ask but is it heavy and did you check it with a magnet? If it is really cast iron the interest in identifying the part will really be something to watch! It would be a very rare item indeed. Chuck in NH

Definitly Y block, 56 2x4 intake, looks painted with cast iron heat proof paint to me, ist that a little corrosion in one of the bolt holes.Smile

Its a 57 style intake. The 56 style did not have the connecting ports.Looks to be painted.

I"m in Baltimore if he really needs somebody to take a look see at it.$100.00 offer from me BigGrin

Give it the magnet test. Its aluminum Ford. The numbers are cast into the bottom of the intake.

Based on the provided pictures, the manifold still looks like the factory ’57 2X4 intake regardless of the coloring.  Picture quality isn’t good enough to see the small “S” on the bottom of the manifold but if you see it, then you’re also looking at an aluminum intake.  That “S” would indicate Schmeller Aluminum Foundry.  I suspect that the Ford part number is also present on the manifolds lower side.
