Y-Guys: I'm 'fixin (hush,Lon) to do my '60 F100 kingpins and it appears the "play"
is in the axle and not in the spindles. Is this normal(I haven't taken it apart
yet,) but if the play is in the axle, what's the fix?
Bill
If you have play in the axle itself, you'll need over-size kingpins. And you'll need to ream the holes oversize accordingly.
Rare Parts http://www.rareparts.com/ sells the oversize kits as does NAPA (they probably get them from Rare-Parts)
Most front-end shops can ream the holes with a Sunnen hone and install them. It doesn't take that long nor cost a lot.
OR, you can do it yourself using a suitable hone.
I had my F-600 re-pinned for about $140 + the cost of the kingpin kit. They're perfect now......
Cheers,
Rick
