Yesterday when I got home from work I decided to do a little work on the car. My headlights had been changed to the newer composite type with replaceable bulbs. The inside of the housings had formed a grey hazy coating and I was going to clean them. When I removed them I found a lot of over spray on the stainless rings that hold them in. I polished the rings before reinstalling them. All went well until I was finishing the second one. While using the stand buffer I caught an edge of the ring on the polishing wheel. After checking to make sure the ring hadn't hit the car, it didn't I had my wife take me to emergency. After a couple hour stay the result was three lacerated fingers, now stitched and in a splint. A bruised chest and cheek and a cut forehead. Just shows how fast things can go bad. To top it off this is our third trip to emergency this week, other two for my wife, she's ok. What a way to start 2011. Lesson learned, if I had been wearing gloves and a face shield as I should have the damage would have been much less. But it was just one little job and..... you know how it goes. Typing left handed for the next ten days will be a good reminder. Needless to say my nice round headlight retaining ring now looks like a potato. If you have an extra one please let me know, I would like to get the car bake together and erase the rest of the signs of my boo boo. Thanks, Mike

Mike; Man....you're lucky you didn't loose an eye! I was a machinist in another life and saw guys loose fingers quite a bit. YOU'RE RIGHT....Be extra careful working in the shop! I have a 56 Fairlane headlight eyebrow, but I'm sorry I don't have a trim ring that holds the headlight. I'm sure someone will have one for you. I hope you heal-up soon! Rono

Mike, wow, you got a licking! I think about something like happened to you almost each time I use a grinder or buffer. The vertical 12 inch wheel always is worrisome, because of the adhesive backed paper. Thanks to your post, a face shield is now on the "to get" list.

All our friends tell us we are trying to out do each other. We have decided to call it a draw. Tom, thank you very much! Would like to get the car back together as I plan on shooting a video and posting so the board can hear the glass packs.
