He has some neat lenses.Seem reasonably priced too.Even has a set of replacements for te stock 56 tail lights.Every time I see a set of the Merc wagon lights on Ebay the price ends way up there.I wonder how many people would bid on used ones if they knew about the ones this guy sells?

Does anyone know(remember?) the source of the lights I commented about on the previous post?Another member emailed me asking this question and I don't remember the source of the aftermarket lights that someone else posted a link to.

Night Prowlers used to carry them but they are not in the current catalog. Call them they may know how to get you a set. Also a place is making aluminum castings of the 56 Merc SW assemblys. See: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1956-1955-Mercury-Wagon-Taillights-Ford-ThunderBird-55-/350491934475 Price is not bad, they could be polished or molded in and seem to take the stock type lenses. Chuck Just did a GOOGLE search and found these: http://www.wirthscustomauto.com/506556-p-bubble-lenses.html

Not sure if this is the same one, Mark... What follows was posted a while ago by Dinosaur. I copied it and put it in a file for future reference. It sounds like a good lead for you...
[i]Those Merc WAGON taillights will fit all 55 and 56 Fords. They look really good in Fords, especially T-birds. If you do find a pair, yes, they will go for huge bucks. And then consider how nice they will be after all these years. Lotsa pits in the housings, lenses sun-bleached, and cracked. What are we to do? Go to www.leelenses.com They have some really cool tailights, and lenses. They don't advertise, I can't understand why. Anyhow, they have the Merc taillights in question, with or without bezels. The bezels are fiberglass, paint them and install. There are places that can chrome that stuff if you want, but I can't remember who. Anyone into the old vintage look should pay a visit to this site, lotsa neat lights. Oh yeah, the Merc lenses with bezels are $190, can't buy used ones for that price.

Hope this helps!

Thanks you guys, especially oldcarmark for taking the time to revive this old thread. This gave me some really good leads to try. I had a 55 Vic in high school and knew a guy that had a set of these lights but I was in HS without a job so I did not get them and eventually sold the Vic. (kick myself ALL the time) About 4 years ago I found another Vic and bought it for my wife, my Vic was $10.00 in 1967, her's was a bit more. Vicariously I'm trying to get the lights now I never got for my car, it was a whole lot easier to find this stuff in 1968 then it is now.
Thanks for the help.

These are from a '60 Dodge Dart Phoenix/Seneca/Pioneer - they match the headlight doors on the '56 Ford.

I did see a set of original wagon taillites at a swap meet this year, that were in very nice shape for $2000. BTW what is also similar to the Dodge tailite like the one above is a 59 Buick, and fits prperly if I remember right.

The repop lenses that you show are for the car tallites, not the wagon.
Not sure what your looking at but he is advertising both tail lights and backup lights as '55 and 56 Station Wagon'.
1955-56 Mercury Station Wagon Tail Lamp Lens
These hard to find 1955-56 Mercury Station Wagon tail lamp lenses are manufactured in the USA with State-of-the-Art molds to the exact quality as an original including all lettering, markings and color...

Tell you the truth, I wouldn't know one way or the other, just going by what the guy said. Too much money for me.

I've been looking in Oz among other places and havn't found ANY! I think the ones on EBAY may be it for new ones. I'll keep hunting though. I have a set of the aluminum repops. They are basicly a rough casting and would need a lot of work to get them smooth and polished. I plan to give it a try though. I think for the price they are very fair. Chuck
