I finally finished this project. The injector was adapted from a current scrub offering. I hacked it apart and reconfigured it on a fabricated manifold.. It's the engine that was in Jerry's dragster, 11.5 compression 435 horse with a 750 on a Blue Thunder intake. I am running it on E-85 and it will be on the dyno wed for test and tune

Hi Royce,   Sorry, no luck with that link....I'll just have to drive down there this Wed and see it live.   Barry L.

Royce

I love it, hope you will do a write up on how you put this thing together. Can't wait to see your dyno sheet.

Sweet!. Royce I can't tell is that an efi setup. Must have been a lot of work.

So Cool!

Royce

I was wondering why you are venting the crankcase through the fuel pump opening (Not wanting to cut your valvecovers), also are there any plans in putting this in some type of race car?

hey Royce, sweet, very sweet. do you have any updates on the Thumper, sorry but it's been a while since i talked to you, thanks, wayne.

been a long time since i have seen anything as neat as that. love to have that in my 32 cpe.

Al, It's mechanical.. As someone once said mechanical injection is just a controlled leak

Glen I will try to get a better shot of the intake.. But it's pretty well buried under there.. Nothing very sophisticated

Gary. The vent on the fuel pump is so I don't have to cut original valve covers..

Not sure what I will put it in.. it's been a feasability excercise so far

Wayne. Thumper Should be at Columbus this year

Tim Maybe we can work something out..LOL. Except that your new engine will have more power anyway

Royce.  Thanks for sharing.  Also got a kick out of the white stuff sitting just outside your cracked open door.

Great job Royce, that is a new face on an old friend.

Glen, Here are a couple of shots of the intake and injector

Very cool Royce. Lot bigger butterflies than the Hilborn Y setup?
By jepito - 14 Years Ago
well crap, you beat me to it lol. What nozzles are you using? I was planning on running deflector tips. Since 1 runner goes left and 1 right, 1 sprays down the port and the other into the runner wall.

VERY COOL!

11.5:1 compression ratio is pretty high.

You probably will be limited to E-85 or propane! It would probably even detonate on 115/145 AVGAS wouldn't it?

I just LOVED the sound of it running!!!

Cheers,

Rick

Jepito, Your setup is so much prettier than mine. I found that 7AS nozzles and an 80 pill worked best for me.

Rick, I ran E-85 which is acutally E-70 this time of year, with a knock sensor with absolutely no sign of detonation.. The big cam bleeds a lot of compression down low. I think this combination would run on about 100 octane easily maybe 93 with backed off timing
By jepito - 14 Years Ago
what size pump?
By RB - 14 Years Ago
PG 150-0

Great! You cannot get 115/145 anymore but you can sure get 100LL avgas (2ml TEL/gal)....just tell them it's for your "homebuilt" airplane!!

Have you considered (Mummerts) aluminum heads for additional detonation protection?

Just found this post and I'm so glad I did! RAD engine! Thanks for sharing.
