I am looking to add power steering to my '58 f100 with a 292 in it. I want to use the pump that came on the 292 thunderbird but am worried that the crossover pipe on the truck will be in the way. Do the birds have this pipe and or does anybody know of anything else I may have to worry about with this application.
Thanks,
Cbass

Howdy,
I think it might NOT interfere with the "crossover".................. IF the PS bracket you're talking about is the same or similar to the one I am using.
Mine came off a newer medium duty (F-600) truck.

Where does your reservoir go?

I think this pump and bracket actually came off an engine that had an exhaust cross-over. The reservoir is a separate unit that bolts to the top of the water pump.....but could probably be mounted anywhere.

TBirds did NOT have the crossover pipe. Additionally, the TBirds had a spacer between the water pump and the front cover which pushed everything forward, including the pulleys. The brackets for the power steering pump were also engineered to compensate for this spacer so I don't know that your brackets would work on an engine that didn't have the spacer.
