my indash gas gauge was not working when I bought this truck so I added a new aftermarket gauge and checked the sending unit. The sending unit works fine, but when the tank is full the gauge reads empty and when the tank is empty the gauge reads full. what am I doing wrong Thanks

Polarity won't change it, the gauge works by heating and cooling of the bimetal strip in the gauge. The gauge and sender are simply not matched to each other.

You bought a gage for a GM product. They're backwards from Ford.

I had a similar problem with my '56 Customline. I bought all new guages from Haneline, but in the end, I had to get one of their sending units too for the fuel guage. Rono
