Hi Guys

I've recently bought a 239ci ebu code Y-block to replace the dead flathead in my 53 customline and I need to know,

1)   Will any Y-block oil pan fit this early engine? I need oil pan with main bulk of oil pan at front of engine,

2)   Are all Y exhaust manifolds interchangeable with this engine?

3)   Are full gasket kits available for 239's as I'm having trouble tracking one down?

Thanks for your time Lee (london, england)

Welcome to the site,

The 54 pan oil pump suction mounts different on the pan than later styles, the 54 pick up tube to pan has 3 bolts in a triangle, later ones the tube is complete with a nut in and out. I guess you could modify a tube to your liking along with where you want the bulk of the pan and pickup. Just remember front sumps should have baffles to prevent oil from going backwards on hard launches and rear sumps should be baffled to prevent oil from rushing forward on hard braking. I think Ted mentioned the pickup should be no more than 3/8" from bottom of where you locate your sump.
