I'm back to wanting to install a Mustang T5 in my 56 Ford Victoria. I gave up on the idea last year because I found that the shifter was going to end up under the seat. I have since discovered that I can use an S-10 tailshaft. What will need to be done with the speedometer drive gear and/or driven gear? The Ford drives off the top of the tailshaft and the S-10 off of the bottom. Thanks DaveDave, I have a WC T5 from a 90 model Stang V8 in my 56 Vicky. There is no shifter problem with the seat all the way back. Of course I have to drive with the seat all the way back anyway so no problem for me. I used Mummert's adapter.
Sent the old speedo cable to a shop to make a new one. Said same length, same speedometer head fitting (taped note to this end) and to fit the Ford T5 on the other. If you can drive w. the seat all the way back, save the $, hassle and keep the 56 all Ford
Using a 21 tooth drive gear (believe the driven gear is 7 tooth) , 3.73 diff gears and P235-75 15s got my speedo very close. Used a small tire store with owner on sight. Installed 205 tires and made a run using the GPS to display spped. Speedo was off so came back paid $20 and put 225s on. Another run w/ the 225s and GPS, came back, another $20 and put 235s on.
Hurst web site has MANY choices for shifters that will bolt to the T5
My T5 has .67:1 OD that allows cruising 70 MPH at a hair over 2,000 RPM
