I had that problem with my 57 T-Bird.  If I let it sit for too long, the torque converter leaks down and ford-o-matic thinks it has too much fluid in it, and starts burping it out the dipstick.  At least that's what I was told.  I start her up run through all the gears.  Basically take if for a little run.  Since I started doing that, no more problems.  I was told that there was a tech bulletin that stated that the T-Birds should not be allowed to sit for extended periods of time or this problem would occur.

Hope this helps.

The case needs to be vented.  On some models, the vent is a button like thing at the front of the case on the right side.  On some, there is a tube pressed into that hole and exits at the back right side of the case.  Make sure they are not plugged with grease/dirt or mud daubers.

John's suggestion is a good one. Also, check with a transmission rebuilder. I vaguely recall someone telling me that IF the front pump on the transmission is worn, the torque converter will drain back causing the 'overfill' condition. Sad

Steve:

Sorry, I don't know how to do pictures.  The vent is near the forward edge of the main case, just below the upper bolt that holds the transmission to the bellhousing.
