I have put Vintage Air on the 56 Ford but have experienced belt slippage with a single belt. Rather than pay those high prices for an original 56 dual water pump pulley, I have found Ford Part #C6AE-8509-E off a late 60

's big block will work just fine. My cost including shipping was $15.95.

Rudder2Fly;

I've been having the same squeal/slippage problem with my 56 vintage air. Could you be a little more specific as to what the part is? Also, is your AC compressor mounted below the alternator?

Thanks,

Rono

Sorry I was not specfic; the part # is a Ford double pulley for the water pump. The pulley is the same diameter, bolt pattern, depth, and 3/8" belt width. I had a spare pump that I dropped the pulley on and all look great. Hope this helps .Gene S.

couldn't find any more data than this...still looking.

These are small block pulleys with 5/8 shaft and same bolt pattern as the Y. the first groove turns out to be pretty much in line with the Y pulley and the second is toward the motor.

Rono, The a/c compressor is below the alternator. Steve I have a single groove pulley and the double groove pulley side by side and the 2nd groove is toward the radiator?  Rono this should line up good with the double grooves on the other two pulleys. I bought a NOS double groove crank pulley about a month ago. I should be good to install all parts. Gene S.

Thanks Gene and Steve, the additional info helps alot. The chart was especially interesting. So with the double groove water pump pulley and at least a double groove crank pulley, you should be able to run a seperate belt for the AC compressor, right? My problem is that I spaced my brackets so that the alternator and AC compressor pulleys line up to run on 1 belt. I assume that would have to change.

This is one of the smaller diameter double grooves you can get fairly easily.....Mota Performance 72001 SBF double...The front groove pretty much lines up with the Y-block part and the back groove is toward the motor. So yes, I would think the alternator would have to move back one groove space.

There are also double groove pulleys for the alternator (not this brand) if that would work better (two common sized belts).

Thanks everyone for the advice. I ordered the double groove water pump pulley (they only had 1 left on Amazon), but since it's cruzin' time (and I'm in Maine) I won't need the AC for a while.
