salf100, For a car I've always bought a 5 litre container (5.28 quarts) with a filter change which gives me a generous fill. looking at the conversion it probably should be 5 quarts. Trucks use a different sump but should be similar. If your cautious just use the dip stick, it's what they're for just have some oil handy. cheers Warren

I'll keep tabs on the oil, but knew there were several differences. Do you recomend pouring that extra quart dirrectly into the filter? Thanks for the help

Nope. If you fill up a filter on a Y, most of the oil will pour out by the time you get the filter screwed on. I fill mine about half way.

My remote oil filter sits vertical. When oil change time comes I fill the new filter to the top before installing. It requires some time and multiple additions of oil, as the air slowly bubbles to the top. The filter holds very close to .75 quarts.

Hey Mike,
I think that BIG pan I got from you holds around 8 qts doesn't it?
With a big remote cooler and filter, I'll probably need 10 qts per oil change!!

Rick, the large pan you have is what Ted refers to above for an HD truck, 6 quarts. A 7 quart change should do it.
