Good day has anyone replaced their rope rear main seal on 239 with a newer neoprene style. I looked at newer style and comparing it to my rear seal holder not sure if it'll work do you still use the blocks and nails to keep seal tight looks like  not a lot of space for all this in my seal holder kinda confused and would appreciate help  Laroy

I performed an in the car seal replacement on a 312 and everything went back together just fine (and it stopped the leaking!). I don't know if the 239 has a difference design. You might do a search on this site as the rope rear mains a problematic and there has been a fair amount of discussion regarding their replacement.

i,ve not done 239 seal but suggest if you allready have neoprene seal, to try the block seal half and check that both ends will sit flush with cap surface. Reason is that i have encountered some early blocks where that groove in block is not deep enough and have just used rope style seal.Tongue
