I recently put together a 292 for my F-100, only to realize that the tri-power manifold is longer at the back, and now the vacum advance housing on the distributor hits, so I can't get the timing set, So I was wondering can you interchange vacum advance diaphragms on different years of distributors?  Any ideas at all would be appreciated.

lameyer,

What manifold did you use? You can gain more clearance by removing the distriburer and replacinging it at a different angle. This will mean retiming the engine but is do-able. Essentially the dizzy can perform at any angle provided it has clearance.

cheers
