head gasket of water jackets

When I put my head gaskets on the block it covers up some water jackets that are under the pistons.  I do not have the holes on the gaskets.  Do I let the gaskets just cover these up? This is on my 64 292 engine

The head gaskets do block some of the passages. The blocked passages should be at the front of the bock. See the attached link for a better explanation.

Do you have the head gaskets on correctly. The square corner should be face forward on both sides. One gasket may appear to be ndsıpǝ poʍu. This is normal. Also should be marks "front". Both marks must be to the front.

As long as you have ‘FRONT’ orientated correctly, don’t worry about what looks like blocked passages on the gasket surface.  Modifying the gasket so that those blocked passages are open can lead to overheating issues and ultimately to a cracked cylinder head.
