just a quickie

can anyone tell me the thread rate and the under head length of the pan head machine screw that holds the oil trough on.

the one that feeds oil to the chain. i' m guessing 1/4"  unc may be 3/8 long.  i've made the trough from pics supplied by Ted and its quite trickie lining it up between the cogs.  need to know how deep to drill the block and overcome the dread.

thanks everybody

The parts book says ¼”–20 X ½”.  Don’t have a factory one handy right now but 3/8” long would be more than adequate.  The factory threaded hole for the trough is typically drilled completely through the front bulk head of the block.

thanks a lot Ted , i didn't think i was going to get a reply so i got stuck in this after noon. drilled and taped 1/4" unc to a depth of 3/8" (didn't break thro)  gee its scary!!

getting the trough right was a real pain   its quite a tight fit between both cogs and the chain   but with the aid of your pics i've done it. now i have to sweep up all the failures and there's quite a few.

thanks again....next time i'll be bit more patient
