I need some technical advice...4 or 5 months ago my motor was the topic of some speculation as to its actual displacement.The ad claimed 292,the peanut gallery had it everywhere (except 312). It has an EBU crankshaft, making it, if I've read the crank info correctly a 256?. As I stated in another post, the block is being magnafluxed and if it is sound I'll be proceeding from there. Question: What can I do with this EBU crankshaft. After sonic testing I was hoping to bore the block to the 292 spec, am I gonna need an EU crank, or even better a 312 crankshaft?. As I stated elsewhere it came to me with 113 heads, so that's a bonus. Thanks for the help. John in oregon. the final word...Is this EUB crank air tight proof that I'm dealing with a 256? If you take the 239 crank and get 223 pistons from an I6 @ 272 bore size I believe gives the correct deck height to make an excellent high revving circle track engine.

There are some compatibility issues between 256 and later y blocks http://www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic60955-6-1.aspx?Highlight=256 Do a search of the forum for more information. If you want to go larger it may be better to look for a other engine. After all your looking for a crank and rods. Regards Warren

You will need an EC crankshaft to make the engine a 272 or 292. You block should be machined for a crankshaft slinger but this should be checked. You might need to have it ground off. 1955 EC cranks didn't have a slinger so that would be no problem to install.
If the block doesn't sonic test good enough for a 292 you could go .060" over 272.

Thanks John, I've put a hold on the magnaflux work, I'm not sure that I want to sink any more money in a second rate block.I am hoping to use quite a few of your products,and I've been juggling afew different ways to proceed but they all revolve around a really solid 292 base. Should I look for a newer "genuine" 292 block?. Thanks for any and all help! John in portland, Or.

If you have trouble finding something up North, I surely have a block down here. Should also have extra crank to go with it. Cores.
