Power steering bracket

Are there different mounts for the power steering pump that attach to the water pump? Mine will not line up with the pulleys. I've spaced the pump back about 3/4" and the belt almost lines up. This just dosent seem right. I've tried different dampers and pulley set ups but nothing seems to solve the problem. Anybody? Chuck in NH

There may have been different Eaton pumps between trucks and cars, for example, the "Big Job" trucks running power ram assist, but I think the brackets stayed the same. An easier fix to the problem may be to look for a different water pump pulley with a different offset. There are a bunch of Ford water pump pulleys on ebay, you just need to measure the offset on the one you have and figure what it would take to fix it. Maybe a 289 double sheave water pump pulley would work? The bolt pattern and center hole are the same, but the diameter may be a little smaller.

Chuck, I have a couple off 57 motors that are the same but I have one from a 62 that looks a little different. Sadly the 62 one is broken and one piece is missing so I can't do a side by side.

My power steering pump is a single belt direct from the crank pulley. It does not go over the water pump. By switching all of the pullies I had on hand I finally found one flat enough to work but with about a 3/4" spacer in the three bolts to move the pump back. Its so far back the rear bracket will have to be redrilled to fit onto the exhaust manifold. That just seems wrong. I tried reversing some of the power steering pump pullies I have the they either didn't clear or line up. As far as the water pump pulley it is driven by the crank pulley along with the alternator. I have one of the aluminum brackets to hold the alternator and A/C but I'm not sure about the mounting. I have it mounted to two bolts on the upper front cover and it seems right. But I'm having a problem with the adjuster arm for the alternator. Did the kit come with one or is there one that works? Those pullies are lined up correctly and the supercharger bracket and pulley seem to be lined up. Its just the Power steering that is giving me fits. I'm using a double grove damper with the add on McCulloch pulley.

You were right on track. I finally looked at Mummert's site and he has his reproduction mounts there. I am using the 56 and earlier model and need the 57 up. The early one has an angle cast into it and bosses behind the bolts that moves the pump out about 3/4". w00t Looks like problem solved. I can't believe with all the engines I've stripped I don't have the correct on on my shelf but I couldn't find one. Thanks to all. Chuck
