First of all I haved searched the archives and I couldn't find an answer to my question. I am putting together two rocker arm assemblies with new shafts and kits. I am planning on using the 1.54 rocker arms that I have. Should the bores of the rocker arms be smoothed out or cleaned up? They don't look too bad, but I was thinking of cleaning them up with steel wool and I had one suggestion to use a 12 gauge shotgun wire cleaning brush...and should those adjusting nuts be a bear to turn? I realize they need to stay where they are adjusted, but these are tough. Thanks,

If you are holding a blank rocker in your hand and not on a shaft, yes they will feel very tough, they are normally on a shaft and mounted and then they should still be tough. As far as cleaning bores of rockers, just get any varnish or burn't oil residue off them, blow out oil holes, pre-lube when installing and you should be all set.
