Hi folks

just tried to fit ally timing cover using a home made sleeve to align seal with crank and can't get bolts in!!

any one else had same problem? 2nd question .... the four bottom bolts that hold front truck mount found 3 at 3/8 unc and 1 at 5/16 is that normal or should all 4 be 3/8 just seems odd

Some were machined incorrectly which results in some alignment problems. Mine is one of them but I was able to get it on relatively easily. Mine resulted with a gap at the pan rail on the fuel pump side which I just filled with silicon and allowed to set up before installing the pan and gasket.

RE the bolts, I can double check tonight if no one else has an answer, but 3 x 3/8 and 1 x 5/16 seems right.

thanks for reply i think i'll make bolt holes oval to align seal and i might retap that odd 5/16 mild ocd you know!

Three 3/8" one 5/16" is correct.

You got the first one I ever sold! That machinist was NOT a machinist. I fired him about two covers after yours. You can probably get it to work by drilling the offending holes out oversize. My own cover had the same issues, later covers did not....new machinist. Sorry for the troubles.

absolutely no problem. seems a long time ago now. its always dificult to know wether to wait till the wrinkles are ironed out and risk no more may be made or jump in early. they are worth it just for the weight saving on a nose heavey truck! i think i'll plug the offending holes with ally dowel and redrill
