Gary Croan in CA (Bristol Service Company) make a conversion I believe. Might check with Mummert.

My Bendsens works well, but poor customer service if you have a question-especially for the price!

Did anyone ever figure out if the gear drive adapter on their starter is a production model for something else? The starter body is a standard import and is used on the scrub. Its the adapter to the Y-block that is keeping me from finding one locally. Chuck

Howdy,

I am pretty happy with my Bendtsen adapter.

Yes it is (was) expensive. (isn't everything?)

I did ask him what starter it is but I cannot for the life of me remember what he said it was....If you call him he'll tell you.

Regards,

Rick

I think it's a Mitsubishi style Chevy starter without that attachment plate. same bendix atleast.

I failed to mention that the above Bendtsen kit pictured, IS the AOD + Y-block kit!

It just also happens to work with an E4OD too!!

You have to do a little tiny bit of grinding for the starter gear to clear a spot on the inside of bell-housing.

The entire mess complete with Mummert Rams is going in my 55 F-600!!

I'm getting the radiator re-cored this week and I've removed the cab so I can start building the engine & trans mounts and get ready to sand blast the frame!

Finally some progress!!

Thanks for that!!

I seem to remember he did say Mitsubishi but I didn't remember which engine it was for. He did say I could buy it at any "regular" autoparts store

Cheers,

Rick

It is the same starter as the Mitsubisi high tourqe that is available for the scrubs. I checked to see if the starter was available without the adapter but couldn't find it. Mitsubisi didn't help. You can buy replacement parts for everthing so I suppose one could be made up. Otherwise buy the scrub part and remove the adapter. Then its a bolt in the the Bendtsen adapter. Chuck
