Y-Guys     I want to put P.S. on my ride and keep the strait axle. I've got the

Toy 4x4 gear box that is suppose to work. Any suggestions or ???

                                                                   Thx Bill

P.S. It's 102 temp here right now in good old Ala so I won't be starting this

project until it cools a bit....

I did it a year or so ago and it has been flawless.  Get the Toyota pump, the gear box, the tank and the High pressure hose if possible. I got all 4 from e bay.  The two bolt Toy pump was adapted to the stock Ford 3 bolt PS mount.  I put an second ps pulley on my single pulley Harmonic balancer and alligned it with the pump with about 1/4" washer stack. The pump speed seems to be OK with the stock Ford Pulley.  The the hp hose was exactly the right length to go from the pump to the gear box in my '56 truck.  I reused my original steering column and if you do this be sure to buy the sleeve and not the U joint.  Mid Fifties sells the kit but they are made by a vendor in California.  I bought the gearbox mount and the pitman arm and U joint.  I welded a small 1/4" plate to gusset that thing which doesn't look great the way they made it.  It took some egg shaping holes to get the mount bolted to the frame.  Junk the bolts they send and get grade 8 with hardened washers to clamp the mount firmly to your frame.  As is usual with old car stuff the kits are 85% correct and just need a bit of tweeking to get it all to work.

One thing you loose is the horn wire down the center of the column.  The Toy gearbox doesn't have the same hole all the way thorugh. I am very busy right now but will try to post some pics some time soon.

Doug:  I appreciate the info. I don't have any brackets or

pulley's yet and I'm not to worried about a horn at

this time. I will look forward to the pictures when

        you get the time.....Thx Bill
