I was wondering what options i have for running duals on my truck. I know about the rams horns,but honestly they are abit spendy for me at this time. I just want to get the engine breathing a little better. I have already installed a four barrel carb and intake. If i block off the passenger side at the crossover and then bend a new pipe forward and then down on the drivers side will I run into heat problems with the fuel pump being right there. i suppose i could wrap the pipe with heat tape and insulate the pump some how. This is a daily driver and I still use it for hay and wood. Thanks for any help. James

When I got my 54 Ford (car), I had an exhaust system just like you described. It worked very well. Just keep the pipe far away from the pump as possible.

I've always wondered why not splice onto the existing crossover and run the second pipe down the passenger side parallel to the existing exhaust. That would also take care of the transfer case/front driveshaft interference and steering box issues.
I thought of doing that on my OT Bronco. The 5.0 doesn't use a crossover pipe obviously, but I was going to split the Y-Pipe and run the two pipes along the frame on the passenger side.

Red's Headers makes a couple of versions of Y Block truck tube headers that are about $100 less than the typical Rams Horns if your interested. Rono

Can't say as I have thought about running paraell down the passenger side. I will have to look at it. I will also check into the headers from red's.So far all the headers I have checked out are not for the four wheel drive trucks. Not a lot of room down there. Thanks for the ideas. James
