The grease fitting on the right side nearest the frame of the idler arm will not except grease. I replaced the fitting & have jacked the car up and turned the wheels both ways without success. I can squeeze the gun with both hands without results. Any ideas why? Could that contribute when turning the wheel to the right, to a   hard spot in the steering? Thanks for any info..

g'day paul

i have the same problem with the ute idler arm is brand new & with an air grease gun i cant get any in the only way i can do it is pull the idler apart & put grease in the threads then put it back together.

usually if they are low on grease they become loose & you can wobble the wheel on the side of the idler but i have seen them bind up from lack of grease as well usually in one direction only turn the wheel the other way its ok this can also happen when assembeling the idler by screwing the arm into the bush to far. hope this helps a little.

Moz; Thanks for the info, I've never had an occassion to dismantle an Idler but, I guess I need to give it a go. For one thing I need to ensure that it is the problem, before zeroing in on the steering box.

Paul:

Did you try taking the grease zerk out and pumping grease through it?  Sometimes they clog up with hardened grease.  You can take a pick and try to clean out the hole where it screws in also.
