4 bar setup

For now its a non Y problem but the Y is coming next year. I'm changing my roadster over to a cross spring dropped axle and 4 Bar. I have a problem with the location of the drivers side upper bar. The pitman arm hits it at near full left lock. If I move the 4 bar link below the frame the angle to the axle is way too up at ride height. I'm told that they should be near level. The steering box is early Mustang. Can the pitman arm be reversed to put the curve to the rear? Or is there  a different pitman arm that would solve this? Everything fits fine except this one problem. HELP Chuck

Chuck, I can't see much in the pic's (won't enlarge) but from what I can make out, it looks like you were steering off the left spindle. I would look into some type cross steer setup, from what I have been told, you have less chance of "death wobble" using a proper cross steer setup. Should be some HAMBer's up your way that could give you some ideas. You may have to jump over there and ask questions. Wish I was closer, this looks like a fun project.

The current setup was a Mustang box but with semi-elliptic springs. Never had a problem. With the 4 bar everything I've read says the steering shaft should be as near parallel as possible with the 4 bars. I don't want to make any steering gear changes until I get ready to pull the scrub and install the Y. Might just create more work. The Mustang box has been used this way for years so I was hoping someone had run into the same problem. I expect, somewhere, there is a pitman arm that would cure this problem.
