I've been keeping an eye out for a power steering crankshaft pulley for my '55 292 with the ECG-6315-A Damper. I have seen all kinds of pulleys offered with designations ranging from EBU to EBY to ECG to C1AE and others in between, all claiming to be for y blocks even Edsels. The photos all look the same. Are they the same other than wide v belt vs narrow v belt. Thanks

Discounting the difference in belt widths, there are subtle differences in some of the add-on belt pulleys for the Y engines. The main differences seem to concentrate on the spacing outboard from the original single groove pulley.

Thanks Ted, so if I fabricate my own P/S pump bracket to align the pump with which ever add on pulley I acquire and get a pump pulley that matches the crank pulley groove width, I could use either? Say the ECG or the EDB? Looking more closely at the photos I have I think I can see that the EDB is deeper than the ECG. Thanks again.

I've got a pulley I believe came off a 56 merc 312 I used the block from. It's a little over 6.5 " diameter, about 2.5" from center grove to mounting surface, 3 legs, two mounting holes, and a center hole. .5 " groove. I'd have to run it thru the blast cab to read it, bur it appears to be ECG x6xx9-A. Yours for shipping from Seattle if it helps.
Never had it mounted on the motor, so I can't say for sure what it fits.

Here are pictures of a couple of different add-on pulleys. Belt spacing ends up being varied which must be taken into account for.

Ted, thanks for the photos. miker was so kind to get me a single add on pulley at an incredible price. A big shout out to miker and Ted for being so helpful. I've just cleaned it up but haven't bolted it on yet to see if it is flush or sticks out a bit. Either way I should be able to cope. thanks again.

Ted, two more questions regarding this. I have the set up in the left hand photo except I have the 1 sheave pulley. Are there special requirements for the two smaller bolts - shoulder bolts perhaps? ( I realize I will require a longer centre bolt.) Is there a special thick washer for the centre bolt when using the add on pulley. The diameter of the one I have is too large to fit between the two smaller bolts? As always your knowledge on all things "y" is appreciated.

lyonroad (3/9/2012) ..... Are there special requirements for the two smaller bolts - shoulder bolts perhaps? ( I realize I will require a longer centre bolt.) Is there a special thick washer for the centre bolt when using the add on pulley. The diameter of the one I have is too large to fit between the two smaller bolts? .......While a pair of shouldered 3/8-16 bolts would be preferred, they are not a prerequisite for fastening the pulley to the damper. The larger center damper bolt provides the brunt of pulley attachment. While the damper bolt washer is not particularly special for pulley attachment, simply notching the existing damper bolt washer you have so it clears the pulley bolts should prove adequate. It sounds like you have a washer that’s larger in diameter than the stock damper bolt washers. Double check that your damper bolt washer is at least 3/16” thick. If it’s thinner than this, a thicker washer would be recommended.

Thank you Ted your assistance is greatly appreciated. I'll notch the large washer as you suggest. My washer is 1/4" thick.
Thanks again
