Does anyone make a mini hy torque starter for a y-block? If some one makes a mini starter i think it would  make changing the starter easier being a lot smaller and lighter.

You can buy the starter seperately at Benedtson

I think for about $180. They are actually a Hitachi high torque starter with a special adapter plate to fit the Y. I've looked for the adapter but can't find it anyplace. Once you have the starter if you need to replace it you can just get the basic Hitachi starter and reuse the adapter. Bit cheaper that way. Chuck
