Carburetor woes

I'm using 2 Teapot 4 barrel carbs on a Flathead Ford engine. I've had the car on the road for just a few weeks. Engine runs fine, good throttle response, etc., BUT the thing was difficult to start. Always seemed to flood easily with or without throttle applied.

Yesterday I decided to see if I could find a problem, so I removed each carb and went thru them. I found a stripped hole where the Power/Economizer valve resides and a crack in that same area. Evidently fuel is then allowed into the carb base and then would flood upon start up?

I don't think there is a fix for this, but thought I'd ask you guys.

I think I'll also post a wanted ad for another carb. It's an ECZ9510 M List 1161 2

Maybe someone has a rebuildable one that they're willing to sell?

Thanks for any assistance

Jim

I know this is getting a little off topic but the dual four barrel set up sounds intriguing. I'm running a Carter WCFB from a '56 Merc on my 8BA. It has the small bolt pattern so it fits the intake manifold without any adapters and it's around 385 CFM. Works great. Although due to their design, with the external vacuum secondary diaphragm, you might run into space limitations on your intake manifold since you're running two.

Hi Bob

Sure. The engine is in a 32 Tudor sedan. I posted pics about a year and a half ago here, shortly after I installed it in the frame

Kahuna; If the crack isn't to deep, you could likely clean & prep it well & use J.B. weld to fix it. Takes it's sweet time setting up, but holds really well..

Thanks PF

I was thinking about the JB Weld stuff, but was unsure of it being immersed in gas all the time. I might try to do that if another carb isn't available.

Thanks, Jim
