Finding a rust-free '58 hood is very difficult, the front of the hood holds moisture and is almost always rusted out!

Just an observation from a fellow 58 owner.

A '57 will bolt right on but you lose the hood scoop, which is the neat part. Put a '58 Hood on my '57 Custom 300 in '67 to get the scoop.

I am running 58 hoods on 2 of my 57's. I found both rust free hoods at the Charlotte Auto fair at a fair price. I don't think it is any harder to find a good 58 hood than it would be to find a good 57 hood.

I assume finding a good hood is like finding a good house . location , location, location I live in NYC not many places to find a 1958 hood . If I do get the car my best bet will be one of the big spring car shows in PA

Possibly only God knows why the 1958 Ford was restyled, from the brand new bodied, best selling 1957.. Anyway, the one positive point was that the 58 hood, roof & possibly some other panels were made stronger. 57 hoods bend easily.
