Industrial Y blocks....are they much different?

I found an industrial y block that is in a pavement roller that co0uld be picked up quite reasonable. Does anyone know what differences there might be? I figure oil pans and stuff like that may be different. For example do they have a weird bellhousing or crank flange?...stuff like that.

Industrial engines could have some good internals, They normally have the small valve heads with sodium exhaust valves. I have found them with C1TE rods, 4 Bll B manifolds, roller chains for timing gears, heavy duty push rods. forged pistons, The one downfall is they may have the governed distributor carb combo. Have not found one with a steel crank yet.

When you say industrial y block, is it a 272,292 type or lincoln truck type 317,332 etc, similar at 1st glance but different familys? Smile
