does anyone know what the pressure of a stock 312 1957 y block power steering pump produces? I believe I have a mid eighty's truck dodge steering box and wanted to know if that would work together. I say it would but someone told me that it wouldn't.

Don't know the pressure of the pump question but I'm not sure why you are asking since the pump does not attach in any way to the steering gear box? So short answer is a dodge gearbox is not likely to work for you.

But hey, give it try and let us know anything can be done with enough time and effort.

Having trouble with my 56 power steering and the only thing I can find is how to test the pump. Normal operation is about 100+psi while idling and 3-400 at the ends either right or left. With a shut off valve closed it goes right up to 800 psi and relieves like it should. so that's what a stock pump does....

Any one know how to test a power cylinder or control valve? Preferably on the car but off OK too...Thanks
