Hi I was wondering what would be the best choice to replace my old Ford 2 barrel EBU carb and manifold with? Im looking to go to 2 barrel or 4 barrel with electric choke...Im trying to make this a little easier for the wife to drive. Any suggestions would be great.

The '57-up "B" type manifold is a good way to go and I personally like the 525cfm Road Demon JR. but a lot of guys like the Edlebrock (AFB) carb. You can also look into a Blue Thunder or Mummert manifold.

With the way prices of the "B" manifolds are increasing, IMO you can easily justify the price of the Mummert manifold.

So I want a B manifold,Whats the difference between the A and B?Also iwas thinking of using the holley 4160 390cfm carb good or bad choice? Thanks Mark Stock 292 Truck motor

Modern square bore carbs won't fit the A manifold...

I would also recommend toward the Mummert or blue thunder for the 4 bbl it is not much more $ and the added benefit of hp, and flow--I was set to get the Mummert, but then went with a 3x2 set up and put an automatic transmission behind it to make it easier for the wife to drive. It is all about compromises right?

The EBU carb is from a 239. Do you know what engine you have. it would be odd for someone to install an early 3 bolt intake and carb on a 292.
My concern is that you might have a 239 and have have trouble using a later large port intake.

That was my first thought also when I first read your post. What is a 3 bolt carb (and manifold) doing on a '60 truck and how did it get there?? When did Ford stop using the 3 bolt carbs, ~'55/'56?

And further, he lists the vehicle as a daily driver, including for his wife. A Mummert intake ? He lives in Rochester N.Y. That's not California..

If B manifolds are getting near the price of Mummert manifolds, I have a couple I would sure like to sell!

Thanks Mike just got the truck in January runs good Its by no means a show truck needs work.I work for the railroad and I have a company truck. When I get home from work if I need to go somewhere I use this. I need an electric choke for the winters and wife in case we need to use the truck...Mark Serial # F10C0N14859 W.B. 110 COLOR BM DATE 14M TRANS A AXEL 01 MODEL F100 GVW5000 CERT.HP 146 @ 3800 RPM F10= F100 C=292 c.i. If it is in fact fitted with an EBU manifold and carb (3-bolt carb), then the engine as currently assembled is not original. It will be worthwhile to check the head numbers to make sure the later manifold will work.
After 52 years, there's no way to know what has been done. Even if you bought it from the original owner, he'd be well into his 60s now, maybe older, and memory is not all that reliable. One thing is certain, with that carb and manifold combo, it's not original.
You will need to get your linkage to the driver's side for the new carb but I don't expect that will be too difficult. I think the pedal rod comes up on the driver's side, anyway. On my 61 I have a rod going directly from the pedal to the carb. You just need to take care in the adjustment to ensure that it allows the throttle to open fully yet not go too far to avoid bending or breaking things on the carburetor.

Seems to me - looking for a daily driver set-up - and not a performance arrangement.... Why not get one of the 63-64 two barrel manifolds and an Autolite 2100 carb that has the hot air choke. By running steel tube on the RH exhaust manifold as a "stove" - it ought to operate the auto-choke function. Maybe even a water line heater. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-Y-BLOCK-272-292-312-INTAKE-MANIFOLD-C0AE-9425-F-/280883012043?hash=item4165eea1cb&item=280883012043&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-289-FORD-GALAXIE-AUTOLITE-2100-1-14-C5AF-B-CARBURETOR-/251057979413?hash=item3a7438c015&item=251057979413&pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr these references are just for the pictures

OK so I have the wrong manifold and carb.So now I need to check my heads to make sure what manifold I should be using correct? Is that number going to be under valve covers or some where else...Thanks for all the help couldn't ask for a better site Mark I did find out its a remanufactured block .010 over sized and the heads have been milled as well...Mark

near the exhaust ports or under the intake flange.

I think I have seen one under the valve cover but that could be a different engine.

If you wanted to go in Steve's direction I have a 2bbl and either the Holley or autolite carbs that you could have. I have not gone through the autolite but the Holley is in good shape. Let me know, I will let them go for a bottle of bourbon and the shipping.

Mike you have any pics of them also could I change them to a electric choke? PS what kind of bourbon and how much is shipping to 14450 Thanks Mark

I think the suggestion to go with a 2V intake and one of the carbs mentioned is a good one, and much less expensive than the 4V route. An Autolite 2100 2bbl can easily be changed to electric choke, depending upon the carbs choke mechanism. They changed choke designs at least 4 times. Here is a choke conversion kit for an Autolite 4100 4V. It will work just as well on the 2V. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELECTRIC-CHOKE-KIT-Ford-Autolite-Holley-4100-Carburetor-/140753267586?hash=item20c58c6b82&item=140753267586&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr Definitely get a positive ID on the heads. Check out this previous thread on some 239 heads I found on a 292, with a late model intake: http://www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic70593-4-1.aspx#bm70601
