CharlieI do not get the issue. Is your system a low pressure pump ( not a FI ) ? If it is, why not just relocate the pump higher and continue to use the existing in tank pickup tube. Why would you need an anti-syphon device or a check-ball.
On the English cars of the 60`s, the SU electric pumps are very low pressure ( 1 1/2 to 4 PSI ) and they are located ABOVE the gas tank.
Help me understand your concern. Pete
