Hello, a 292 crankshaft has the measure of 2.4984 Inch where the main bearing sits. What is the tolerance on the crankshaft +/ -(max,min)? Does anyone know?

Swed: Not sure what you mean? Are you asking about the normal bearing clearance, or about runout etc.? If you have a Y-Blk shop manual, all those figures are given in Chapter one, about page 1-32.

I would suggest using plasti-gauge to get an idea of where you are as far as crank condition. It would indicate clearance and taper on the existing bearings and crank journal. If it is questionable  you may have to get the crank machined.

The manufacturer's tolerance on journal diameter is 2.4984 to 2.4988, so your crank is on the low limit, which would mean that standard bearings would work just fine.

Does that mean the actual bearing ID is 2.500"? That'd be a .0012 to .0016"" clearance right?
