I have had a MSD 6 AL triggered by a Pertronix points replacer on my T bird since 1998. It also had new Taylor igintion wires.  This set up works fine and has not caused any trouble (so far).  There seems to be one odd thing about it.  When I start the car in the vicinity of a later model GM car it sets off the car alarm.  The complete ignition system is under the hood and within the fender wells so one would think that it is well shielded.  The radio in the car isn't very good but it works in am and fm and it doesn't pick it up any ignition noise either.  The only other non standard item of electrical equipment is a Ford 45 amp Alternator.  Does anyone else have this experience?

No, but I wish it did! Make sure you tell Jerry C. about this he'll want one too. Chuck

Doug, I did have the same setup on my bird, Taylor wires, pertronix. Never set off any alarms but I like the concept. However I did fry the MSD eventually with a quick short. ouch. 200 s0methin bucks down the tubes. Went back together without it.

I may be tempted to try again if I can be assured it will work as well as yours! BigGrin

Doug,

I have the same setup except for MSD wires, rotor and cap on my Tbird. I wish it would do what yours does.

Doug;

Are you sure it's not your mufflers and pipes setting off the alarms? When I take my Harley down a city street with parked cars I light up the alarms all the timeBigGrin

Alan:

My MSD died a few years ago, I got on their website and found out how to send it in for repair.  Seems like it cost me $78, It's been fine ever since.

Rono you might be on to something. The last couple times it has happened it was in a multistory parking garage and the concrete ceilings & floors do allow that Y Block sound to travel pretty far! The first time it happened that I remember I was parked face to face with a plastic scrub outside with not too much around and I assumed that one was electronic in nature.
