Main Stud torque spec

Trying to find he correct torque spec for ARP main studs in a C2AE block. I could only find the bolt spec. Are they the same?

good morning

can't help with torque for the nuts but ARP say only finger tight for the stud. do not use two jammed nuts. which is what i've always done . not any more ....page 47 and 37 of catalogue

Rono, If memory serves me (and it usually doesn't) it IS in the ARP specs online. pay attention to the spec using ARP thread lube too. I also spoke with John Mummert on this subject just to confirm things when in doubt. And NO they are not the same as bolts

When I looked at the ARP website, it included torque specs for "kits" and individual fasteners. Since all I bought were the studs (which came with nuts, flat washers and their lube) I looked up the spec for their 1/2" studs and they had 3 numbers. The lowest was 110 ft. pounds. The studs themselves only hand tight after chasing the block threads with a tap. This is about what I expected for a torque spec, but still seems a bit high to me. Maybe not.Wink

As a general rule, studs with fine threads torque at a lesser value than their coarse threaded bolt counterparts.  Material type, length, and the type of thread lubricant being used all play a part in exactly how much torque is actually required.  Other than calling ARP and getting the specific torque for your particular stud setup, then simply reduce the recommended bolt torque by 10-15% as that will get you in the ball park.  That is assuming you're dealing with fine threads instead of coarse.
