Hello, my name is Ingmar and live in the Netherlands.

A month ago I bought a 1955 Ford Fairlane town sedan with a 272 fordomatic and I just began with some repairs and get it running.

I will post some pictures later.

The last 12 years I have driven American sports cars from gto's till chevy vans, but this is my first before the year 1960 and I'm very happy with, nothing better than a big ol American car in my opinion.

I was visiting in Holland in last january and saw not a single old american car on streets, so your car must be pretty rare around there.

Where did you buy it from local or from the USA?

Tip; Check the front crossmember [under the radiator] it will probably be rusted out..

Yep, the crossmember has to be replaced.

I will make one myself.

I bought the car in a village 70 kilometers away, I paid 2000 dollar for it.

The car was originally delivered in France back in 1955, there they made an air horn system from 6 volt on it and it still works, it has three horns, the original horns are on the car as well.

Today I bought some new spark plugs, coil, cap and rotor, now I'm waiting for some gaskets for the waterpump and I have to check the fuel pump because It's not sucking gas, I tried it with a new sucking hose in a fresh can of fuel, I will take pump apart and look if I can make it work again.

Do yourself a favour go on eBay and buy a crossmember from Goodell Fabrications.

They are superb quality and fit. http://goodellfabrications.com/

The ones from Carpenters and Macs need the original engine stay bracket to be welded on them.

Here are some pictures of the Fairlane and my daily Thunderbird 1995 and our 1965 trailer from KIP build here in Holland , next to it is a three wheel moped for people who are disabled, it's from 1959.

Greetings from holland,

Ingmar

Thank's for the tips where to buy a crossmember, I will get me one there and will not make one myself.

Ingmar: Welcome to the site. It appears the damp climate there has taken a toll on your '55, so you've taken on a big project there. Anyway, you've come to the right place for help. There are some very knowlegeable people here willing to help any Y-Block car owners. Good luck with your efforts..
