just wondering if anybody knew where the cheapest place to find headers either chrome or with a silver or black coating i would paint them my self but im worried about the paint falling off over time

Well...you can look for local swap meets in your area, usually spring and fall. Also Craigslist, Ebay and you can post in the Classified section on this site that you are looking for a pair of headers, but be specific about what you are looking for.

Ceramic coated headers won't come cheap anywhere. Some header paints are better than others, but if you are worried about paint chipping off, you can always use header wrap (tape) that you can buy aftermarket through places like Summit Racing, Jegs, etc.

Rono, I have always been curious. When using the header wrap do the headers corrode/rust under the wrap. I realize they won't see that much moisture but over time I was just wondering.

Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend header wrap for headers that are exposed to the weather. Like any bare steel, they will rust if exposed to moisture on a regular basis. In an enclosed engine bay you shoudn't have any serious rust issues, but they won't look very good under the wrap. The header wrap also holds down the temperature in the engine bay, but take your time putting it on, it can be tricky.Cool

master,

On my 408 Windsor powered Ranger they did not. But it Had the headers ceramic coated and was not driven in bad weather much. Engine heat dries out the wrap pretty quickly.

If it is a daily driver, just about any coating is going to come off. Some coatings just take longer than others.
