Anyone bidding on that engine should ask about the Block casting letters. Most 55s were 272s. That isn't bad but it's advertised as a 292. (20 cubes bigger) As it has a 4 barrel on it, it might be a 272 Power Pack engine. By the Mummert/Reese listings for 1955, it would have to be an ECJ, ECL or ECK to be a 292. Or possibly an ECH, but their listing conflicts with Eickman's Y-Block book which lists it as a 272. Power Pack ?. And what heads are on it?

It's most likely a 272.Most "car people" today have never heard of a 272,but automatically assume every Y-Block is a 312 or at worst a 292.
