My buddy would like to replace his original non synchro 3 speed column shift transmission in his 55 Customline 272 with a newer full synchro one.I have found a rebuilt 3 speed out of a 70 Maverick column shift type tranny(out of a 6 cylinder model).Does anyone know the measurement from the face of the transmission to the end of the input shaft on the stock original transmissions? Also the overall length of the transmission from front face to the end of the tailshaft housing?Any input into my idea welcome.

This is the measurements of a 56 three speed trans
Overall length is 341/2 " measured from end of input shaft to end of output shaft.
Input shaft 6"
Main case 81/4 "
output case 191/4 "
output shaft (out of case) 3/4"
It was dark in the barn and couldnt see real well but the measurements should be fairly close
