Well thanks for all the info on the E4OD.Yeah I have heard that that they have had some problems. I need special things though.
The one that I have came out of an F450 Super Duty(16,000GVW). I really need a trans that I can load up. This one ran about 100,000 miles with a service body and equipment trailer towing a small excavator on it (around 22,000lbs total) It never broke. I won't be using it for other than a core for a custom rebuild since it is the 7.3L diesel bell/case. I'll be getting a 302/352/300 style bell/case to adapt the 292 to. I'll also probably be using one of the after market (programmable) controllers.
Also It has the ability to accept the tailshaft mounted E-brake all F-450s had back then 1980's-1990's.
My F-600 needs the trans mounted brake since I have no way to put a parking brake on it.
An AOD might be a little anemic for a heavy duty application. I like the TH700R4 as a possibility since they can be built pretty strong and you can put a locking TC in them but I haven't been able to find any one that has seen a tail-mounted E-brake for them.
I'm going to have the E4OD custom built for towing etc. I know it won't be cheap...
