While not the ultimate authority, my 1961 Motors repair manual shows a 292 as available in 61 and 62.

I don't know all of those facts, but I just got a good 312 crank from a guy who swears up and down it was in a 1962 Mercury...

The Motors Manual is correct.62 was the last year for Y-blocks(312s)in Mercs.
