1955 Ford Crown Victoria- where can I purchase a power steering pump

  I just replaces my two hose that come out of my power steering pump and go to the control valve because they were leaking.

  There is no leaks in the new hoses but now I am getting a humming sound when I turn fairly hard to the right or left.

   I have been looking for a new power steering pump for a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria.  But can not locate one. 

   Please help if you know where I can purchase one.

You could get a more moderately priced generic Eaton PS pump (Google it), but then dig a little for the right brackets.

I've seen pumps and brackets for Y-blocks on John Mummert's site http://www.ford-y-block.com/

Also, you could check some of the early Ford parts houses (F-100, T-birds, etc.)

That ebay pump is not the correct one for a 55 car. There were 2 pumps used in 55 an early and late model which is similar to a 56 pump.



57's had 2 different pumps and 58 up are also different from the earlier years, you have to do some modifying to attach them to the original brackets. The mounting brackets supplied with the ebay pump will push the pump to far outward and hit the top of the suspension.



The seller is Brian Weatherly, he does very high quality work. I have used his services many times. I would email him for his suggestions and maybe he has the correct pump you need. He will rebuild your pump for you.



These later pumps are much cheaper to buy than the original Eaton ones.

Since I assume you already have the brackets, the best way to go would be a rebuild of your pump.

A suggestion, since the pump is so old, it may be dirty or gummed up. Try syringing the fluid out & check for dirt an so on. then refill with new fluid. Worth a try?
