Hello everybody,

I have a 1955 Crown Vic.  My question is this - will a Holley 390 fit under a stock air cleaner without any modification if I still want to keep the oil bath.

I am not interested in going with a dry modern day filter.

Thanks,

Ray

Check the inches from the intake to the place where the filters meets on both carbs. You can check amount of clearance from the stock air cleaner to the hood with some soft putty with the original carb first..

I've mounted a much higher WCFB to a stock air cleaner but had to sacrifice another air cleaner I bought off E-Bay for $50. You can do this too using a 7-8" diameter air filter and aftermarket base. Just takes a little enginuity and a jig saw...I can PM you on what I did but yours will be a little easier because I went from a 5+ inch diameter instead of the 7+ inch....Good Luck

If you go back 20 topics a similar question was asked.Yes it will fit.I had to do a little bending of the tabs on the underside where it sits on the carb and make up a threaded rod so the original hold down wing nut would fit but other than that it fit same as it did on the Teapot.

If you look on page 1 of the thread ted linked to, you will see a link to a thread wherein i posted pics of adapting an oil bath to a 390 holley. In my case i converted it to a dry filter internally but it looks like an oil bath. However it could work with an oil bath...
