Got to thinking the other day. We know that Ford made a deal with Paxton McCulloch and the VR57 was a Y block option in 1957. But then, so were the VS57's as an aftermarket add on.

I was looking through some vintage advertisements about these aftermarket supercharger kits being sold that would bolt right to your stock Y block...tune the motor, slight modifications and you are off and running. But what about that boost pressure on higher compression heads? How did they get away with selling these units to folks who had G heads on their 57' Fords (or C heads on their 56's) without blowing those heads off the motor? Did Paxton offer the low compression head, or would not recommend doing the add on charger unless the heads were changed? Can a posted G head handle the pressure?w00t

I would think that working with a 9 to 1 or so head the boost wouldn't hurt anything. Posted heads were made due to heads collapsing in that area from boost. I run G heads on my 56 and haven't had a problem with them (thats one part I haven't had problems with). With the new style head gaskets (Mummert) and good assembly I think they should hold fine.
