Rims and Tires

I'm thinking about giving my 56 Customline and bit of a new look.  Instead of investing a lot of money in tires and rim combinations, I thought I may see what others have done.  If you have photos of 55s or 56s, please post along with tire and rim sizes.  Since I'm "retro", I'm considering something like "Torque Thrust D" rims but not really sure if they will look OK.  Thanks.

Some tire and wheel stores have computer programs where they can scan a picture of your car and then "install" different wheels and tires on it right there on their screen.

my dream 55 or 56 would be a rum-runner... solid black with original steel wheels, widened a bit and dog dish hubcaps.

with a hopped up y block too, of course!

A "new" look would be 22's.....conastoga wheels and fork lift tires......................Oh please don't think this for real.

If I were to change I like American Gray Torque Thrust's or the early brushed Centerlines........but any retro will look good.....................

I don't know where your located, but in Seattle, Les Schwab Tires has stores everywhere, over 400 in the western states. I think they all have the photo shop program Hoosier mentioned. The one in the smaller town next to me (they do a lot of tractor and equipment business, and are very customer orientated), measured for the wheels and guaranteed they'd fit. Might have been a little cheaper somewhere on the web, but having a set of American Mags that didn't fit would be a lot more. Because I wanted a certain sidewall, I had to order the tires from Diamond Back, but they mounted, balanced, etc. for a more than reasonable price. I don't normally use big chains, but these guys were exceptional. There might be someone similar in your area.



If you want dual or tri bar caps, go to Lug Nut King on eBay. Quality is a little lower, but you won't believe the price difference. Like $500 to $90 to set.
