The forum software upgrade has been implemented on a new server and we are waiting on the license verification from the manufacturer to go live with it.  This "SHOULD" happen in the next 24-36 hours.

The process will go as follows:

Shut down the existing forums

Pull a new backup of the database so that we lose no posts

Restore the backup to the new server

Point the forum button to go to the new server.

This process will begin as soon as I get the license verification back

It IS gonna get better!!!! Thanks Stephen! (my sql guru)

Sounds great! Are we going to be able to reimburse You for your cost, time and effort?
Thank you.

While we have you on are you coming to Columbus this year? People are begining to forget what you look like! Smile Chuck

I'll be there this year!

Ok guys, the new stuff is live! I am going through looking for errors and Stephen is fixing them as I find them. Do your thing and if you encounter and error, let me know and we will resolve it. This is a MAJOR upgrade from 2004 software to current so I am looking for issues. Hope that everyone is as happy with the new version and features as I think that we all will be.

Again many thanks for this very valuable information and knowledge resource.

Can you tweak those forum reputation classes. Those are pretty dull, cause everybody starts to be Supreme beings in nowdays.Smile

Btw. Thanks for the forum. This really unites all Y-Blockers around the world.

I dunno chuck, we're neither one of us "slender!" Jim, works like an Eaton Y-Block!!
By bird55 - 12 Years Ago
Yes, for some reason the default of that window stretches the pic to fit, I think.
I'm getting wider too!
I used photoshop to widen my avatar to compensate for it although its not a big deal to me since I don't have my mug in there, I use the yblock art I made.

Actually the border around the avatar bugs me! but I've already addressed this with Jim.
I have a feeling he may say to mind my own business or find a new hobby!
Sorry I'm just a graphic designer with too much time on my hands. Smile
By Jim - 12 Years Ago
There are some things that I can modify, unfortunately, there are things that I can't. I'll try to look at the avatar settings and see if they can be tweaked. Overall, it is a good thing, runs faster and we should not see forum crashes anymore.

OK what happened to the picture of my car?
By MoonShadow - 12 Years Ago
Jim,
When I click on the page number 3 for this topic I get the following message.
I just noticed there is no page 3 yet. Perhaps that is the problem? Yup, tried again, clicking on page 1 or 2 works. 3 isnt used yet but appears on the topic.

Your eyes are better than mine, I don't see a page 3. I will see if I can move avatars over, may have to reload them.
By Jim - 12 Years Ago
NOW there is a page 3!
By MoonShadow - 12 Years Ago
That looks better although it was showing a page 3 previously. Small problem compared to the old site. Looks real good! Chuck

Jim,

This is the error I was talking about. I leave the page set at the forum although I am signed out. I get the message that the search has expired. When I click on home I get this one:

Jim,

Would it be possible to place a link at the top right to go back to the sites main page? Chuck

Thanks very much for hard work on the site upgrade. I'm mostly a lurker, but I lurk almost every day and the new site looks great!

Hey Jim,

Its doing the page error thing again. In "Latest Posts" the Forum upgrade shows 4 pages. Click on page 4 and get an error. Mainly because there is no page 4 yet. Small problem! Chuck

Looks great Jim! Took me a while to find the site after the changeover but I'm finally back on....what a relief. Thanks for this great spot to support the Y-Block.

Jim,

Has this reply box always been at the bottom of the page? I guess when you are signed in you don't have to hit "post reply" to add your 2bits. If this is new I like it! If not poor dumb me for overlooking it. New site is a vast improvement! Chuck

Chuck. The quick reply box that’s present at the bottom of a thread is a new feature with this software upgrade. Pretty nifty and be sure to check out the‘Check Spelling’ feature that’s also new.
